Universal Orlando Resort is officially revving up for its next major thrill.
In an announcement dated January 20, 2026, Universal confirmed that Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift—a high-octane outdoor roller coaster—is coming to Universal Studios Florida in 2027.
A New Coaster Replacing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
Universal says Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will replace the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster, bringing the Fast & Furious universe to life “like never before” with a focus on speed, stunts, and—most intriguingly—drifting.
What Universal Shared About the Ride Experience
Here are the key details Universal provided so far:
- Outdoor roller coaster opening in 2027
- Designed to deliver the sensation of 360-degree drifting
- Features “jaw-dropping maneuvers” and high-speed elements
- Includes a 170-foot vertical “spike” that sends riders nearly 17 stories in the air
- That spike will extend over the outskirts of Universal CityWalk, meaning this thing will be very visible (and probably very loud—in the best way)
A Bigger Fast & Furious Push Across Universal Parks
Universal also noted that Universal Studios Hollywood will debut its own one-of-a-kind Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift outdoor coaster later this year (separately designed from Orlando’s version).
Another Closure Confirmed: Fast & Furious – Supercharged
As Universal Studios Florida makes way for the new coaster, Universal confirmed that Fast & Furious – Supercharged will permanently close in 2027.
When Will We Learn More?
Universal says more information will be shared in the months ahead, so we’re firmly in “teaser mode” for now—just enough details to get coaster brains spinning at 9,000 RPM.
