Royal Caribbean has officially introduced its newest Icon Class ship, Star of the Seas, in Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida. The naming ceremony took place in the ship’s iconic AquaTheater, where research astronaut and payload specialist Kellie Gerardi bestowed her blessing as godmother.

Gerardi, who has long championed exploration both at sea and in space, shared:
“A vacation on Star is the perfect combination of two of my biggest passions in life, a spirit of exploration and quality time with family, and I can’t wait for this journey to begin.”
The ceremony celebrated the thousands of people who brought Star to life and marked the ship’s official launch into service. With this milestone, vacationers can now experience a record-breaking lineup of thrills, entertainment, and relaxation across eight unique neighborhoods.

Bold New Adventures at Sea
Star of the Seas continues Royal Caribbean’s bold vision of reimagining family vacations. Guests will find adrenaline-pumping adventures like the Category 6 waterpark and the Crown’s Edge challenge suspended 154 feet above the ocean. For those looking to unwind, seven pools—including a breathtaking infinity pool—offer incredible ocean views.
Families with younger kids will love Surfside, a neighborhood designed to keep parents and children entertained all day long. Foodies are in for a treat too, with more than 40 dining and bar options, plus dazzling entertainment ranging from Back to the Future: The Musical to breathtaking performances on ice, water, air, and stage.
Royal Caribbean Group president and CEO Jason Liberty summed it up:
“Star of the Seas represents the next bold step in our journey to reimagine vacations. It brings together the best of our innovation, signature experiences, and the most sought-after destinations into one unforgettable vacation.”
Sailing From Port Canaveral

Building on the momentum of Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas will sail 7-night itineraries from Port Canaveral to both the Eastern and Western Caribbean, including stops at the exclusive Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
This is just the beginning—Royal Caribbean has even more adventures planned over the next few years, including Royal Beach Club Paradise Island (opening December 2025), Royal Beach Club Cozumel (2026), and Perfect Day Mexico (fall 2027).

With Star of the Seas, Royal Caribbean is once again raising the bar for what a family vacation can be.
So until the next blog, podcast or livestream, keep making memories.
