Carnival Cruise Line announced it will launch a new loyalty program with new features, new ways to earn status, new reward categories and a new name: Carnival Rewards™.

Carnival Cruise Line to Launch New Loyalty Program in 2026 Dubbed ‘Carnival Rewards’™
New Points-Based System Offers Personalized Perks and New Ways to Earn Status, Including Credit Card Spend

Carnival Cruise Line is making waves in the world of cruise loyalty with the announcement of Carnival Rewards™, an all-new program set to launch in June 2026. Replacing the current Very Important Fun Person (VIFP)™ program, this industry-first approach introduces a points-and-stars system that rewards both frequent cruisers and everyday spenders like never before.

The new dual-earning structure means guests can now earn:

  • Carnival Rewards points – redeemable for onboard extras like spa treatments, specialty dining, shore excursions, and even future cruises.
  • Status qualifying stars – used to climb through the loyalty tiers: Red, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.

This evolution marks a shift from purely cruise-night-based rewards to a more flexible, spend-based system. Whether you’re booking cruises, making onboard purchases, or swiping the Carnival Rewards Mastercard, you’ll be earning your way to bigger perks faster.

Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, emphasized the importance of the update:

“By introducing a points-based system, we’re enabling greater flexibility so guests can personalize their rewards in ways that matter most to them… Carnival Rewards brings our program into the top tier of travel loyalty programs.”

Key Highlights of Carnival Rewards™:

Carnival Rewards will launch June 2026.
  • Points for every eligible Carnival purchase – cruise fare, drinks, activities, and more.
  • Stars determine loyalty status – earned over a 2-year period and retained for the next two years.
  • Four tiers remain: Red, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.
  • Diamond status will be honored for an extended 6-year period for current members.
  • Fun Points from the Carnival Mastercard will convert automatically to Carnival Rewards points at launch.
  • Credit card spend earns both points and stars, helping guests climb tiers even between sailings.

This exciting revamp ensures all current VIFP members will transition smoothly. Existing status will carry over and be honored through at least May 31, 2028—with Diamond guests covered until 2032. Meanwhile, guests can continue earning VIFP status leading up to the big change.
