SeaWorld Orlando is set to debut its newest attraction for 2025, Expedition Odyssey, the world’s first fully immersive Arctic flying theater experience, opening to the public on May 9. I was lucky enough to receive early access—thank you, SeaWorld!—and I’m excited to share my first impressions.

This brand-new ride, built by Mack Rides, is a flying theater experience similar to Disney’s Soarin’, but with a uniquely SeaWorld twist. Guests are taken on a breathtaking 4.5-minute journey over (and under!) the Arctic, complete with motion, wind, and water effects that enhance the feeling of flight. With a height requirement of just 39 inches, it’s a family-friendly adventure that kids and adults alike can enjoy.
One detail I really appreciated: SeaWorld has emphasized that, aside from transitional scenes, no CGI was used in the ride. That means you won’t find exaggerated visuals like elephants tossing dust or golf balls soaring at your face. Instead, you get authentic, beautifully captured footage—and there’s one moment in particular that’s so perfectly timed and heartwarming, I can only imagine there were high-fives all around when they got the shot.
Overall, Expedition Odyssey is a formidable entry into the flying theater genre, presented with that distinct SeaWorld touch—visually stunning, emotionally resonant, and grounded in real-world wonder.
Pass Member previews begin on May 1 (starting with Platinum), leading up to the grand opening on May 9. If you’re a SeaWorld fan or just love innovative attractions, you won’t want to miss this one.
So until the next blog, podcast or livestream, keep making memories.
