Six Flags Over Georgia will open Georgia Gold Rusher this spring. This ride will provide a new family attraction for the theme park.
Georgia Gold Rusher serves as the new attraction for 2025 for Six Flags Over Georgia. This first-of-its-kind ride combines high-speed adventure and soaring elevation with free-spinning gondola seating and dynamic water features.
“Georgia Gold Rusher hearkens back to a nostalgic era of our park, where thematic storytelling was at the forefront of everything we did,” said general manager Greg Fuller. “This revolutionary attraction and the investments made throughout the park will help enhance our guest experience around every turn.”
Georgia Gold Rusher will bring several unique ride elements to Six Flags Over Georgia guests. These ride elements include:
- Spinning gondola seating with guests facing outward
- 590 feet of U-shaped track
- Multiple high-speed launches
- Speeds of up to 60 miles per hour
- 144-foot peak
- Water element featuring a scenic splash
Georgia Gold Rusher
The backstory for this new attraction builds on the story of William Gibson from the 1885 gold rush era. Georgia Gold Rusher introduces guests to the eccentric prospector William “Willy” Gibson. The narrative of his life describes him as a clever, young entrepreneur with a mischievous streak. Six Flags Over Georgia states this brings a rich new narrative to this exciting experience.
The story of Gibson and his hydraulic mining machine will be told as part of the ride’s theming. Georgia Gold Rusher will have scenic portions, such as a mining sled and mine cart, and additional décor.
Six Flags Over Georgia stated that this theming and storytelling will extend beyond the ride itself and integrate seamlessly into the Lickskillet section of the park. Lickskillet, the park’s first major expansion in 1968, calls back to old mining towns.
What Happened to Georgia Surfer Opening at Six Flags Over Georgia?
Originally announced as Georgia Surfer, Georgia Gold Rusher’s new name is part of the park’s renewed investment. The reimagined theming also enhances the overall guest experience. Six Flags Over Georgia stated that enhancements in dining and décor will accompany the new attraction. Storytelling, retail, and park décor will also improve in some regions of the park. These include Lickskillet, Retro USA, and Promenade.
